The NEA local in the Clovis Municipal School District will be the focus of intense activity when six teams of two people each head out to 19 school sites March 16- 19 , 2009 to recruit NEA members and discuss the state funding of public schools, as well as other pressing issues facing the district and its employees.
The event is called the Clovis TOO STEP, which identifies the local as a Target of Opportunity for membership. The organizers have been recruited from NEA-NM, NEA national, and the Clovis Education Association.
The Mini-TOO follows on the heels of Target of Opportunity campaigns of previous years which have focused mostly on locals in the Albuquerque-Santa Fe and Las Cruces areas. Andres Becerra and Charles Goodmacher are coordinating the TOO STEP . The following people will be members of the outreach team: Kimberly Anderson, Andres Becerra, Patrick Chavez, Russell Clemons, Leslie Fritz, Christi Gonzales, Charles Goodmacher, Debbie Hanson, Melissa Howard, Molly Smith, Ima Lee Wells, and Phadra Williams.
There are 1100 employees in the Clovis school district.
